Tuxedo Cat Facts
Now that we have shared some of the best tuxedo cat names with you, it’s time to learn a few facts about the two colored guys.
Fact 1: Tuxedo cats are not a unique breed
They are bicolor cats. A bicolor cat is a cat composed of two shades. In this case, the prevailing color is black.
Cat coats come in several different colors, all attached to chromosomes.
Purists claim that only black cats featuring white on their chest and paws should be called tuxedo cats.
But a fast cursory review of The Tarpan refutes these restrictive criteria
Fact 2: There is a sluggish gene myth explaining why they are bi-colored
While tuxedo cats are twin-touch (also known as piebald, when the twin colors are available and one white), their distinctive coats were once assumed to result from lenient genes not moving rapidly enough to cover the coat.
Science is now focused on evidence that a defective variant of the “kit” genes produces two-tone cats in the womb. They’re defective because they don’t usually multiply.
Fact 3: Tuxedo cats have green eyes and white whiskers
A hunt for online tuxedo cats leads us to notice that many tuxies, if not all, have green to greenish-gold eyes. It’s not exactly a decorative thing.
It is more common and can be considered an incredible combination with its dual coat color.
Nearly every tuxi has white whiskers. But then, most cats have those too!
